3 reasons why people want to Change Careers

1          The change Covid made to our view of work.

The Covid pandemic changed many people’s views of work ,work life balance and the importance of family.

Has this caused you to reassess your life and  work . Many people now see hybrid work as the minimum work pattern they will accept.

Along with hybrid work quite a few have decided that there was not much job satisfaction in their area of work, so they are seeking a  career change .Has this happened you,  and are you  starting to mentally look at new areas of work .Is this where you are currently in your thinking and planning.

How are you dealing with the stress of a job you no longer enjoy

2          The time it takes commuting  to work.

A second reason you may be seriously considering a career change is Time. The time it takes you to get to work  and the costs and stress associated with commuting . You could be spending an extra 1 to 1 1 /2 hours travelling into work  that’s 3 hours a day 15 hours a week 60 hours a month or 2 1/2 days a month. Then you are traveling in a hot smelling tube or train carrige with loads of perspiring people . Alternatively, you are crammed together in a rain soaked mess on a over ground train. Horrible right !

3          Poor Management

Added to the cost of traveling  is the issue of poor Managers .Having managed for many years I would say managing works well if ;You build a good working relationship with your staff : what’s their family makeup, what’s their strengths weaknesses. What experience do they have .how do the fit unto the organisations business plan  .Most important is being honest and straight forward with your staff.

The member of staff are like an iceberg .They only show you 10% of their abilities Your goal is to help them to show 20,30 40% of their abilities and skills for their own personal growth and for the benefit of the organisation.

Lack of job satisfaction

Many of us are in areas of work we either hate or work we get little job satisfaction. Many people just work to pay bill and get no enjoyment or satisfaction out of their work .

You might be in the sciences i.e. A Finance Officer but you love interior design . Alternatively you are an Admin Assistant and gardening is your absolute joy . All you can think about is how can start my gardening business.  All of the above and more additional reasons will cause you serious consideration a career change.

Is gardening your first love and Finance just the job you do

So, as you can see your whole viewpoint on has work and your career has changed over the last few years. So, what steps do you need to take to make your career change?
